HOW WE WORK

We bear the responsibility of navigating a direction for sandbox games carefully and thoughtfully.

All of our decisions and development time must produce outcomes within the game experience that players find to be relevant and worth the investment of their time and effort. Many aspects of sandbox games are exciting to us, but we will temper designs and ideas with perpetual feedback from players.

We operate with a high degree of personal ownership, which includes persistence and urgency toward pleasing players and enabling fellow developers within the team.

This requires agility beyond the comfort zone of our specialties in order to cover a range of responsibilities within a game service product, and increasing autonomy toward good decisions and alignment toward players.

We prioritize feedback from the players who best exemplify the core gameplay experience.

How we define this core experience will very likely expand over time.

FOUNDERS

Stephen Lim
PRODUCT DIRECTOR

Slim is a product designer and served in project lead and VP of R&D roles at Riot Games for 8 years.  He custom built multiple teams of over 100 developers around specific player needs and together, as a co-creator of VALORANT with Trevor, developed a thesis process for defining new game ideas and helping them persist through years of development, hundreds of obstacles and a barrage of competitors.  He is lucky to have learned from and fought alongside other developers at Riot and Blizzard, trying to do the right thing for players, and carries that commitment forward into Raid Base.

Slim has only known a life in multiplayer games, from Trade Wars on BBSs to Shooters, RTSs, MMOs, MOBAs and Sandbox games.  He is now quietly enjoying his sunset years playing relaxing, casual games such as Tarkov, Rust and Factorio.

Trevor Romleski
GAME DIRECTOR

While aspiring to go pro in League of Legends, Trevor actively discussed balance and game health on the official forums. The head of design took notice and eventually offered Trevor a design role at Riot Games. These positive interactions and discussions were centered around a mutual love (between players and developers) for the health and vibrancy of his favorite games. This experience compelled Trevor to ultimately choose a career in game development, over going pro, as a means to make a similar impact on other players.

As a Game Designer at Riot, Trevor worked on League of Legends live balance & reworks during season 1 & 2 and created champions to expand the game roster. Trevor was also a co-creator of VALORANT, working on a large span of systems and content for the game and led the design team through launch.

Trevor enjoys anything video games related, spending his time watching streamers, esports, and attempting to relive his glory days in games when he was arguably good at them. Trevor has spent a majority of his life devoted to video games, and strives to bring the joy and magic he has experienced playing them to as many other people as possible.
